In response to Trump’s recent Executive Order, dubbed the “Immigration Ban,” companies are beginning to speak out and take action. CEO of Starbucks, Howard Schultz, wrote an open letter telling of his plan to hire 10,000 refugees over the next 5 years in countries where they’re currently doing business.
We have a long history of hiring young people looking for opportunities and a pathway to a new life around the world. This is why we are doubling down on this commitment by working with our equity market employees as well as joint venture and licensed market partners in a concerted effort to welcome and seek opportunities for those fleeing war, violence, persecution and discrimination.
Netflix, AirBNB, Starbucks, and countless other companies are taking their own stand against Trump’s order in their own way.
If you’ve been sitting back, and waiting for an opportunity to speak your piece about this ban, either for or against, this is your chance. Show your support for businesses that are aiming to hire or help refugees, or write them a letter saying why you feel the opposite. Either way, there will always be an outlet for you to let your voice be heard. Now’s the time! Speak up!
